Cycling and cycle racing have been an integral part of my life for 36 years now. Over the years I have gained an enormous amount from my sport on many different levels, and the past couple of years I have had a growing desire to give back some of what I get out of cycling. Team SBHub promote the same aspirations and values that I see as important in terms of my giving back. So it was a privilege to be asked to join the team as an experienced ‘senior’.
Due to work and family commitments, supporting with time can be difficult which is why I also support financially in my own small way. In January 2019 my brother in law David was tragically killed in a road traffic accident on the M6 at the age of 34. As my sponsorship is personal and I don’t have any corporate branding, the words “Riding For David” are my logo and way of expressing my deep loss and remembrance of a special man. He always said “I am here for a good time, not a long time”. How tragically right he was. I will continue to support this fantastic team and hope we build on the success we have already enjoyed.
Left to right: Juniors, Noah Davis and Matt Finegan, are with Sam Dobson in Morecambe at the start of a Coast to Coast epic in aid of NW Air Ambulance. Thanks to Sam for ‘pacing’ the lads for the first leg to Kirby Lonsdale. They raised a massive £3,000!
Riding for David: this motto has been incorporated into the rider’s team kit.
